Working from home is more common now than ever. Staying productive when you are working from home can be tough to master, but with these tips things can become a little bit easier.
Create a dedicated work space:
This is really important for staying productive when working from home. Ideally you need to find a dedicated work space away from the distractions of everyday life. Try to avoid choosing the bedroom. Maybe you have a spare room you can turn into your own studio, or a shed in the garden. Even a small space in the living room would work if you can partition it off with a screen etc.
Avoid distractions:
If it makes you more productive to have the TV or radio on, or listening to music when you work, then go for it. If those things are simply going to distract you, then avoid them at all costs. Also don’t get distracted by your phone or social media. The small things can really add up and use a lot of your time.
Work when it’s best for you:
The good thing about working from home is you can choose your hours. If you are most productive in the evenings, then do your work then, if you work best in blocks of 2 hours with a long break in between, do that. Just bear in mind that you don’t want to overwork yourself. Make sure that you save yourself enough time in the day to unwind and relax so you don’t burn out.
Take breaks:
To be the most productive, you have to make sure that you are refreshed. Take breaks regularly throughout the day. Maybe go and get a coffee from the local cafe, or take a walk around the block. Just try to do something every now and then to clear your mind and stretch your legs.
